You guys are right on the money (pun intended). You know how I said I was thinking about not going collecting recently because I was tired, long drive, and wasting $10 if only to find a couple little teeth? Well, I just heard a story about a couple coworkers who flew to Hilton Head for the weekend to go golfing - and they aren't even that good at it apparently, but they LOVE going and doing it nonetheless. Well, their expenses totalled close to $1000 each. Albeit they don't do this very often, but I'll be darned if I ever think about not going collecting because of $10 in gas. I too, like many collectors, always look to find at least one specimen to "justify" the trip, whether it be to justify the cost, your time, the aches and pains, or to just find something to add to your riker mount. I used to look for quantity and quality, now just quality since quantity has gone by the wayside. Now I'm content if I find one nice tiger shark tooth to go with my study I've been working on for two years. Sometimes I go just to see if collecting conditions have improved or not. I wish Google Earth images could be more realtime, like within one day, so I wouldn't even have to leave my house to check on collecting conditions!
