Re: Diving Cooper River for the 1st time.
Yes, FossilMick, I'm from Columbia. Traffic was terrible on I-26 too, so I don't think you would have been better off going through Columbia. For my Charleston trips, I like to plug the ipod in and set the cruise control and just zone out, but cruise control was impossible Saturday.

Thanks for the site names Ditchweezil. That was my first time at Clay banks. That bed seemed more rich than the others I've been in. I found a lot of teeth in the 1" range, but it seemed like anything bigger was only a partial.

I agree on the log books. The only reason I do it is because I got hassled about it when diving in the keys and I plan on going back to the keys at some point. It's kind of a farce if you ask me - what's to stop someone from just making up entries? The only time I've found it useful is when I've changed the way I set up my gear and I make notes about what works well and what doesn't.

I do dive just for the sake of diving. Being underwater just makes me happy. Finding fossils also makes me happy, so diving for fossils is the best of both worlds - puts me in a great mood for days.

Can anyone recommend a good ID book? I don't have a lot of nice stuff, but I'd like to know the names of the interesting ones.
