Re: PCS Mine Aurora
Hey everyone.  I'll be heading to Aurora for the first time this October.  Any advice as to what type of tools to bring (sifter, shovel, etc)?  I was recently at Carmel Church Quarry and was pretty unprepared and wanted to avoid that happening again.  Any other advice would also be appreciated.

Also, I definitely wanted to hit some of the spoil piles while in the area. Reading the past posts, it seems as there are some near the museum, and then also past Chocowinity.  Is there a third at cox crossroads?  Thanks for your help and hope to see some of you out there!

Re: PCS Mine Aurora

Snaggle,

Bring plenty of water to start with.  You may want to bring a rake or shovel in case there have not been large amounts of rain.  Knee pads would be a good idea as well.  That way, if no erosion has taken place, you can do the "Pungo Crawl" and look for the smaller stuff.

The reject/road fill pile outside of Chocowinity is gone.  Your best bet would be the museum pile and Cox's Crossroads.

Re: PCS Mine Aurora
Finally got my Slot today. Towards the end of the season, but for my first request I'm not complaining. It looks like a couple hundred requests had to be denied. I feel lucky. Hopefully we will start getting some rain. Has been very dry latley. Anyone else get a Dec 1 slot? This is a Great Web site and I  would love to meet up with some regulars if luck may have it. And for everyone who has gotten an early spot-- Good luck.     FossilMick

Re: PCS Mine Aurora

I'm on the schedule for that day.  I'll have a white hat with meg dive flags on it.
