Re: Lee Creek Slots Available Nov. 25
Thank you again very much for the opportunity to hunt the mine. It was a awesome experience! I enjoyed every part of the trip. The museum was great and I even found a few teeth across the street in the piles. Hunting in the mine was a bit slow I guess because of the lack of rain. It was a little tough getting going due to the fact that all the easy finds were found already. I just wasnt sure I was looking in the right formation most of the time. It was also pretty impossible to find even a few square feet that didnt have foot prints or some sign of someone searching it. Even the steepest piles seemed to have foot prints even where it seemed impossible to get to. I did however find one small area that had no footprints and I found several teeth. A broken meg, a killer tiger shark tooth, several makos that all had some damage but nice colors, and a couple sand tiger teeth that were nice. Basically enough to make me dream of going back next season constantly until I get the chance. After the hunt in the mine I hadnt had enough so I headed over to the museum to sift a bit. There were three others there as well and I guess it wasnt to surprising that we were all from Black River Fossils. Obsessed, Slightly less than Obsessed, and FossilMick. It was great meeting you guys (and gal)! FossilMick and I found the Cox Crossroads pile and found several more small teeth each, mostly tiger shark teeth I think but it was getting dark quick and I still havent really checked them out yet. I actually put them all in a bucket of material I brought back for my little guy to go through that we will attack this weekend. Who knows what else might be in there!

Say toofless, make sure you look through the bucket of material real slow and pay close attention to the small teeth.  Each 5 gal bucket of that stuff usually has at least a few whale shark teeth (Rhincodon typus) in it, sometimes more.  If your not sure what they look like, check them out on elasmo.com or here on BRF in the gallery pages under whale shark teeth.

I still have about 20 gallons worth of material from the spoil piles to go through.  If you take your time you might even find a couple of the tiny catshark teeth as well.

Have fun,
Daryl.
