James River Sites
Does anyone know of any fossil sites along the James River in Virginia? I have heard they are there but have not been able to get any specifics. If you have any info, please e-mail me. Thanks Drew

Re: James River Sites
Hi, Try Chippokes Plantation. Lots of shells and 'imposter' teeth, but supposedly they have an occasional Megalodon there. Large Makos too. There may be a rather large fee to access the beach as well, I'm not sure. There is supposedly a Boy Scout Campground along the river that allows access somewhere, I have not located it yet. There is another place called James Plantation that is supposed to be productive at low tide. I have not driven that far south since it is such a hike for me (Winchester VA), I usually hit Westmoreland or Calvert County. Check out the following website for info on Chippokes: http://www.vmnh.org/fieldtrp.htm
