The loss of a fellow collector

Have any of you heard about the collector that was killed in NC on the 30th of last month.  He was hunting in Elizabeth Town and I guess he was digging and a 25ft wall of clay and sand fell on him and killed him.  His name was Bob Henderson.

Thats crazy how dangerous our hobby is.  Some have it worse than others, but i'm sure we all do stupid things just to get another foot, or just to find one more tooth.  I have done my share of stupid things.  I hunt in an old limestone quarry and I have climbed down on a ledge of a 50ft wall just to get a few nice urchins.  Its never worth getting hurt or being killed to find nice fossils.  Everyone stay safe out there so you can post all the cool pics on here for everyone to see.

Re: The loss of a fellow collector

Yes, he was in my club - The East Coast Fossil Club.  I've always heard that was a dangerous site.  He

was not the only person to have a wall collapse onto him there either, as its happened to others I've spoken to

who have dug this location.  It's very sad, as Bob was a very nice person and will be missed.
