Cooper River Megs
I dive the Cooper at least once a week. Some weeks as much as 3 times. Living 5 mins. from river and owning 8 tanksand a boat is a big plus for me. I just started a few months ago, but have already developed some extremely safe techs. for solo dives. I sure wish I could find a few people to dive with on a spur of the moment. I would prefer you have at least a little exp. in the cooper due to her own personallity. I still don't like things that go "bump" in the dark, but I usually laugh at it afterward. I don't care too much about collecting, I just love the hunt and the thrill of the find. I have already learned to recognize a good bed for teeth or good holes for bottles. Any doubts about my skills at finding stuff can be put to rest by looking at my finds at scuba buddy website and view my pics. As I have just joined this site today, I will hopefully soon post some pics of some nice teeth and artifacts from all up & down the Cooper River. Anyone ever dove with the SDAMP program? I am working with them at present to see if my latest find is a "new" ship wreck in the cooper. Anyone wanting a good dedicated river buddie let me know.

Re: Cooper River Megs

I'm in Columbia and would like to dive the Cooper when the weather gets warmer.  I'm an experienced diver with an advanced open water cert, nitrox cert, and plenty of experience with zero viz solo diving thanks to being on a search and recovery dive team.  I've been diving in the Cooper in the past on a guided tour.  I've got all of the necessary equipment except a drysuit (hence the warmer weather remark) and tanks.  I'll be glad to help with the expenses for airfills, gas, etc.  I'm addicted to fossil hunting like everyone else and would go every day if my job and wife would allow it.  I've got a newborn and a two year old that make it hard for me to drop everything without enough notice but I'd like to dive the cooper with you if our schedules work out.  Drop me an email at bcjones4@sc.rr.com to discuss further.  Same goes for other like minded people needing a dive buddy in SC or anywhere else.

Re: Cooper River Megs
I sent you a private e-mail. Thanx for replying. Diving the Cooper is not as mysterious as people think. Though it does take some "special" ways to dive it. I would not recommend just anyone go jump in !!! The depth finder could read 20ft and you could wind up being in 40ft + ! Also alot of unpredictable currents. Landing on a log jam still scares the heck outta me !!!
