Here's another to add to my previous...
4) a few years ago or more I was on my way back from my Lee Creek trip, driving my little Ford Escort station wagon. I stopped off at the Cox Crossroads DPW site and filled four 5-gallon buckets of material to bring back home. In order to fit all of the buckets and all of my clothes, shovel, screens, gear, etc. I had to put the back seat down so everything could lie flat and not obstruct my view. The four buckets were right behind the front bucket seats resting on top of the folded down back seat. I made it all the way back to Maryland and was only an hour from home travelling on a road with traffic lights when all of a sudden all of the cars in front of me hit their brakes, and I needed to stop rather quickly to avoid hitting the car in front of me. Well, the four 5-gal buckets behind me didn't come equipped with brakes of their own, so the momentum made them tip over quite quickly and almost all of the material came sliding out all over the car. It was everywhere, every stinkin' nook and cranny had material, under the seats, side of the seats, in all those areas that you wish you could vacuum when you clean your car but are impossible to reach with a regular vacuum attachment, etc. I really wished I had spent the extra $2 per bucket to buy the lids for the buckets. The next day I used a vacuum cleaner to suck up as much material as I could, using fresh new bags to "catch" the material. As the vacuum bag filled, I stopped periodically to empty it into the bucket, and then resumed vacuuming until I got up as much as I could. I recovered about 95% of the material. About a year later I sold the car and if you looked real close in those nooks and crannies, you saw a little bit of spoli pile material! I didn't charge extra for that. I now own about 10 of those lids. Free advice...don't buy the crappy orange buckets from Home Depot if you plan on filling them with heavy material because the handles pull out of the sides real easy. I found the best buckets are the ones that Georgia Pacific spackle comes in.
