Success!
I know I have been complaning a lot lattley about the Yorktown formation. However, I remain loyal to my local area and today it payed off.I had my best day at York River ever today. I hit Indian Field creek about 2 hours before high tide, and started sifting. After about 45 minutes of sifting and not finding anything, I stuck my shovel in the ground to sift some more and right next to it was a pretty little sand tiger tooth. This was the first tooth I have found at the York river. After that I got on my hands a knees and found a few more teeth.(Virginia hauls arn't like SC hauls, but that feeling I got when I found that first tooth was worth all the work) After that I got on my waders and walked along the river for a while and found lots of Whale bone and coral.I also found a whole Ecphora shell, which I had never found before. Re: Success!
Congrats! There's nothing like finding that first tooth at a spot where you just KNOW there are fossils. dw
