PCS - Who's ready?/Roll Call

I saw my tentative schedule for guiding this past Saturday.

Post up when you know your slot...

I'll be there both days the first weekend.

Re: PCS - Who's ready?/Roll Call
Definitely ready!!! My eyes are very sore from looking through spoil pile dirt for tiny little teeth. Can't wait untill spring season is finally here. Hope it starts to warm back up.

Re: PCS - Who's ready?/Roll Call

Well, my feet have been cold all day and my nose is running--guess it's Spring Season at Aurora again! Maybe they overlooked feeding a tiny bit of James City to the bucketwheel excavator. I'd like to find one more good Horse Mussel. PatY

Re: PCS - Who's ready?/Roll Call

My request went in the morning of the 15th also but I have a feeling everyone's did. Haven't seen you at the cliffs in a while....you must be spending too much time looking for shed antlers!

Re: PCS - Who's ready?/Roll Call

I must be either crazy or smart (not figured out which one yet -- probably crazy) I sent my request in at 2:08 am on Jan 15th.  If I get in, it'll be my first ever trip.  I've heard different things from different people about priority.  Some say that fossil clubs will get the first slots and others have told me it's first request first serve.  Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Re: PCS - Who's ready?/Roll Call

Jack,

The first 6 collecting days of each season go to the members of the Friends of the Aurora Fossil Museum. After that, there is no set in stone way the scheduling is done. Clubs, schools and individuals are all given equal weight in the selection process--it's just a matter of juggling the numbers in an attempt to give everyone the opportunity. PCS gets between 700 and 1000 fossil requests each season so it would be impossible to honor collecting date preferences and still get everyone in to collect during the three months allowed.

You are right on!  I have been really busy and its a little easier to stay close to home and look for sheds...I have found five already including one nice 5 point side.  I really hope we get slots!!!  The spring season looks like a lot of fun!!!
