I've stayed there before - it's convenient because it is located very near the mine.  Since you are

planning to take your family, I'd recommend finding something in Summerville or St. George.

It will add driving time, but the accomodations are  nicer and you will have places to get meals.

There isn't anything I'm aware of in Harleyville (near exit at least) to get food other than a gas

station.  I'll be bringing my family too.

Re: Hotels near lafarge
I stay at the ashley everytime i head down to Lafarge.  The rooms themselves are not to bad but the night crowd can be.  If staying with the wife and kids i would recommend summerville as well.  If you do stay at the ashley be sure to try and barter your room price.  Last time i was there i paid like $65 bucks and a friend of mine claims to have gotten the owner down to $50.

Re: Hotels near lafarge

Usually when we go to LaFarge we stay in Santee, just off I95.There you have a good selection of hotels that are pretty reasonable in price and you don't have far to drive to get the the quarry.

Re: Hotels near lafarge

Thanks for the imput we are going to stay in summerville. I do have another question, is this like pcs with windrows or like the richlands quarry?  our son is very excited for the chance to hunt with a chance of better finds than the beach or the aurora spoil piles, he's pacing the floors & xing the days off the calander
