Re: Aurora Trip Questions

Since I haven't found a tooth over 2" since opening weekend I'm not sure you should follow me anywhere.

I must have left my mojo in the pit somewhere... if you find it please return it to me :)

Good luck Sunday.

Re: Aurora Trip Questions

Oh so thats whos mojo I found. I put it in my pocket to return it to its rightful owner and not 5 minutes later I found my first Parotodus ever. Unfortunately I have to tell you that on the way out of the pit it somehow got out of my pocket and is lost again. I will however tyr to find it on April 5th when I go back in again. If found I will carry it with me and gaurd it closely. Maybe it will bring me good luck one more time before I return it to you. This time maybe it will help me find one of those really sweet Megs that can only be found in Aurora!

Re: Aurora Trip Questions

That mojo found was found last Sunday.  I just checked elasmo.com and saw a 5 1/2" meg that someone picked up.  I'll be there this weekend.  For those who have already been,  which hills have been the best bets this season?

The biggest meg that I have ever found was about 3".  Last fall I just missed finding a 4 1/2"  meg that Boo-Boo got to just before me! Maybe this time!

Re: Aurora Trip Questions
I've been in already this year and can say that all of the hills in there are just as good as the rest.  The yorktown on one set of hills is the same yorktown on another set of hills.  Decide what you want to find and hunt that formation.  You want great whites go to the james city, squall'y go to the pungo chance of big megs go to the yorktown.  The one thing to keep in mind is to move SLOWLY, the most common error commited by people later in the season is they walk way to fast.  The two 5.5" megs found last weeked were either completly buried or had only a small portion showing.  Don't concearn yourself with footprints, with out any rain  they are going to be all over the place and  I cannot tell you how many big teeth i have found or seen found next to or in a footprint.  No matter how many people have been in the mine there will ALWAYS be awesome stuff in there to find.  The two six inchers last season were found on the last two weekends.  Best of luck.

Re: Aurora Trip Questions
Good catch fossilmick!  Although 5 1/2" is plenty big!  It's supposed to rain several times this week.  The best chance may be Friday night or Saturday.  I want the rain, but not enough to wash out the ramp and cancel the outing!
