Virginia Beach Area
We are heading down to Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads area and can't seem to find anywhere to go fossil hunting online.  We are going to go to the James River and Chippokes Plantation on Saturday, but will be down near Va. Beach Friday.  Any ideas or suggestions (even for James/York river or Chippokes) would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Virginia Beach Area

Cindan, I've never been there and I don't know much about it, but I know the VMNH (Virginia Museum of Natural History) conducts field trips to Chippokes Plantation where there are dozens of species of mollusk and other fossils there, and supposedly most are very well preserved.  You may want to email the curator of the VMNH at:  alton.dooley@vmnh.virginia.gov
