This is a little early for this info...but better to start now. This fall my family and I are taking a vacation to Disney World. This is sure to be fun...and my 4 year old is going to love meeting Mickey, but this is MY vacation as well. That means that a fossil hunt will most certainly be in order...after all we are in Florida!
I was wondering if the Florida hunters could point me in the right direction of some streams, mines, etc that would give me good chance at a 5" meg. No seriously...not your honey hole, but I think the peace river is relatively close by. I am not a diver. I would be willing to make a sifter and buy a shovel if need be or just surface hunt. Any locations, techniques, or any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks Chris
FossilMick do you still have that meg from Lee Creek in your hand?? Are you dive certified? I would love to do that...but the wife might have other ideas. I was thinking about bringing my snorkel gear for some of the rivers down there. Might be worth it to pack??
If you have never dove venice i would make an attempt to if i was you... It's a simple begginers dive other than the occasional low vis. Certification can be done in one weekend or some night classes. If you decide to do venice let me know!
The peace rivers has hundreds and hundreds of canoes every week so i have had a heckofa time finding good hunting.
