I also have a spare kayak or two and all the equipment needed to do the peace river. Chris, if you indeed make it down and we can work out the details and all, I'd be willing to assist you. I was at Disney last year when some family was in town and I'd much rather be out on the river or pretty much anywhere else for that matter but I digress.

Jax, I'll be keeping my eyes open. My offer to you will always stand. I'll take you to some spots you will likely find a meg or two, plus some other great things. Just make sure you plan your trip at a time when the river is at a more desirable level. The river is a wonderful, wonderful place to spend a day digging and enjoying this hobby.

Wow!!! Thanks to all for the gracious offers of help! I will take you up on some of those offers. At this point we are not going till the end of September or first week in October?? Not positive on the date right now...but a few weeks out of our trip I will get in touch to make some plans. Thanks again for the offers of help!!

Im with you on the Disney World...give me a muddy fossil adventure any time!!!

As far as Venice Depths 20-25 fsw... Simple safe stuff.

We need to plan a blackriverfossils.org peace river trip with the members and do a meet and greet and some cooking and just get to know everyone. What do you guys think? Too bad summer is here i am not the most patient guy around. On that same note i am heading to venice this sunday if anyone wants to come along. -Matt

Chris, on my 1st dive ever, I found 2 Megs off of Venice. VERY easy dive. Getting certified will open up some pretty awesome locations to find some great teeth. I love to dive, but now I make most of my dives in locations that I can find teeth. It seems like there is alot of people that have some good advice, you should have a great trip. Oh yeah.... I have finally gotten to where I don't have to look at it everyday now.

What are the costs of diving in Venice? I have never been diving before and am unsure of the expenses. Can you rent equipment nearby? How much to get on a dive boat? I guess I can get certified somewhere local where I live here.

Commercial dive trips can cost between $35-75 for a 2 tank dive ,tanks included, or you can hook up with someone with a boat, rent your own tanks for around $12 and pitch in a couple bucks for gas. There are several dive shops in the Venice area. I'm going to try to do alot more Venice trips with my son this summer, I'll post if I've space.
