New member from Germany

Hi folks,

I'm a serious shark tooth collector from Germany. My favorites are the lamniform sharks, in particular the sandtigers (Odontaspididae) and the mako-/ Great White-lineage (Lamnidae). But of course, I have a collection about the complete range of cretaceous and tertiary sharks. Some locations are focussed: e.g. Lee Creek (NC), Egem (Belgium), Isle of Sheppey (GB)...

I hope to find some new collector-friends for discussing about fossil sharks, sharky evolution and stratigraphic questions.

I also like to trade / exchange teeth and literature-references.

Hope to hear soon from SC, The States and all over the world... The world is so small ;-)

All the best

Andreas

Re: New member from Germany

Hey Andreas, Welcome to Black River Fossils! I am a collector from SC who is crazy about fossil shark teeth. My collection tends to be focused in SC because its where I hunt most, but from SC I have Cretaceous, Paleocene, Eocene, Oligocene, and Pliocene shark teeth. I also find a lot of Pleistocene mammal fossils, too. My favorite shark species are the Megalodon lineage, especially Carcharocles angustidens and Carcharocles auriculatus. Whenever I am able, I collect at PCS, so I have a few nice teeth from there as well. I also like the Parotodus and Alopias geni. I have a soft spot for those sickle-shaped teeth.

I also enjoy trading. If you want to try to work something out, send me a message through the Contact Us page.

Recently, some collectors from Holland came here and I collected with them. They gave me some fantastic specimens from Egem but I cannot ID most of them. Can you recommend a web site or some literature that I can use to ID them?

Thanks! dw
