All,
I just recently started diving for teeth but I have been collecting them since I can remember(Grandparents lived in Venice Beach, FL when I was growing up). I recently dove the Cooper River and now I am hooked on black water diving. I am really close to the St Marys River here in Florida and I am curious just how many folks out there have dove it or have considered diving it. I am soliciting any information you can provide about the river if possible, I know alot of people have secret spots so you do not need to disclose that. I am looking for general information and possibly someone to dive it with as most of my diving friends are apprehensive about diving in low vis conditions...Anyways, if anyone out there can shed light on the subject or if someone out there wants to dive it with me please reply. Also, I am going up to the Cooper the 23rd and 24th of August. If you want to go dive there let me know. I think their are still spots on the boat. I am also interested in diving the Edisto. I will be on leave from 18 Aug to 8 Sep so if someone needs a buddy to dive with up there let me know. Heck, I will dive pretty much anywhere so if anyone out there needs a buddy or someone to chip in on gas money please let me know...Take care and thanks for this forum.
I have similar feelings about Shell Creek south of there. It seems like it would be good but where do you start? Its not like the Peace River where you can see the bottom and cruise around and pick a spot. And dive buddies get scarce when they see the color of the water and the assortment of reptiles that live along the banks.
Who are you diving with for the Cooper trip? I was planning on heading up there in August as well but have not made any concrete plans yet. Last year I dove with Capt. Phil of Backwater Diversions and found some cool stuff. I have also thought about the Edisto and have a 14 foot jon boat with a mud motor contraption that would be good for the Edisto I think.
I'm in.....on...whatever. I will be driving through Jax sometime Friday night so let me know if you need a ride. I have two buddies that have commitment problems and may go. I will make them decide this weekend. If they dont go I think there are three more spots on the boat.
Any other Black River Fossilers want to dive?
