At the aurora festival auction this year there was a set of reef shark teeth auctioned off. they said they were hard to find, i did't get a good look at them and would like to see some. if anyone has any pics that would help me while i'm going through my 7 buckets of spoil dirt. thanks joel
Here is one that I found in the reject piles this past spring. Also check the others listed on here. Look in the upper right side under Fossils then go to Shark Teeth then Carcharoides Catticus . There are several photos there .
Here's a link to see the other Carcharoides catticus shark teeth on Black River Fossils. Another species, Carcharoides totuserratus looks identical except for minute serrations on the blade. The latter are much more rare.
Good luck! I hope you find one.
hey obsessed thanks for the pics & dw for the links. i had time on sunday to look over about 1/2 my teeth and so far have found about 10 of the carcharoides catticus. now i feel like emptying the 5 gal water bottle i've gotten a 1/3 full.
