Barracuda Skull

My sons and I want to work on a project together that requires a modern barracuda skull.  I've searched a bit on the internet looking to see if there are any sites that sell modern fish skulls but haven't found any yet.  Any ideas on where I might be able to get my hands on a modern barracuda skull?  I'm not even sure where in the U.S. people catch these fish (Florida maybe?).

thanks,
Daryl.

Re: Barracuda Skull
Darryl I did some diving off the south Carolina coast and saw quite a few that were like in the 5 foot range they were at pretty much all the shipwrecks and artificial reefs that we dove, I dont have a boat big enough to go out there tho, maybe check with some of the fishing charters along the coast they might could hook you up with one,

Re: Barracuda Skull

I found this site, but it seems expensive, but then again, all of the prep is done for you without any loss of bone:

Maybe try finding fishing guides in Florida and give 'em a call.  You might be able to get one cheaper but will have to do your own preparation. Usually they're released unless a customer wants one mounted.  But sometimes they catch fish, including barracuda, that are attacked by non-fossilized sharks with only a head left on the hook!

By the way, you ain't gonna name it Sarah, are ya?

Re: Barracuda Skull

Thanks for the info guys - wow - $250+ for a skull....hmmm, not sure I want it that bad.  Maybe try my luck with the fishermen first too.

thanks,
Daryl.

Re: Barracuda Skull

I know a guy who fishes both off the outer banks and in Florida quite a bit.  He's heading to Florida next month to fish.  I'll see if he can get one for you.

Thanks FB.  I'll pay for shipping etc. if he's able to get one.
