What's it from?

I found this Sunday is it a Meg or something else?  I'm leaning toward something else.

Re: What's it from?

Definitely a Megalodon tooth.  It looks like it's river worn, but good sized.  Nice find!

Re: What's it from?
Thanks. For some reason I thought Megs were serrated.

Re: What's it from?

Megs start out serrated, but a tooth that is heavily worn can have the serrations completely worn down, giving the appearance of a smooth cutting edge.  This is most often seen on teeth that are found either in a swift-moving river or out in an ocean trench, where the teeth are exposed to fast currents and fine sediments.  Hope this helps!

I still think your tooth is a sweet find!

I think it's a sweet find too. It's the largest I've found so far and the first tooth I found on my first trip to the Edisto.
