Aurora Spoil Piles
hey everybody I've never been in the mine, but Ive done a lot of collecting at the roadside spoil piles. For those of you who have been to these piles, what is the biggest/best item youve found there. Stuff from in the mine is welcome too, but Im going back to the piles this summer and want to know if anybody had found anything nice there recently. Happy Hunting Drew

Re: Aurora Spoil Piles
Drew, I went to the piles a couple months ago with my kids, we found a ton of teeth at several different piles. Obviously mostly little and broken teeth, but the best find was a posterior megalodon/chub that my son found in the tub of material that we brought home. It's pretty much perfect, and the root is relatively huge. We also found some real nice hemis, tiger sharks, partial cow sharks, and a few small threshers. Good luck!

Re: Aurora Spoil Piles
I have found an alligator tooth, a 2" great white, a few 1-2" megs and lots of small teeth. I plan to visit Greenville in July and will be taking my kids shark tooth hunting a couple of days.

Re: Aurora Spoil Piles
I just got back from Choco and found lots of small teeth ( less than 1" ). I only found one meg - 1- 1/2". I seriously doubt that there is anything over 2 or 2 1/2" in the spoil piles including the one at the aurora museum. I really think you need to get into the pcs mine itself to find anything really big. I would like to know if any of you have found anything decent in the spoil piles.
