Biggest Lower Hemi?
I was in Aurora last weekend to see DaFossz pull out that lovely tooth...anyway, among my finds was a 1 15/16th lower hemipristis - gorgeous. Anybody seen one bigger? It drwarfs my previous "big" hemi, and bigger that any I have personally seen and I did not know they got that big.

Re: Biggest Lower Hemi?
That's huge! Its bigger than anything I have, but I've seen several 2" hemis. They've all been uppers, though. A friend of mine told me he saw a 3" hemi, though. Its owned by a collector in the Netherlands, I think. congrats on the find! I think I glanced it when you were showing it to someone last week. send a photo if you can. the way I remember, it was "Tooth of the Week" quality.

Re: Biggest Lower Hemi?
I have seen bigger uppers as well, but not lowers. The biggest upper I have ever seen shows up every year at the Aurora Fossil Fest in the PCS "white tent" in one of the cases - puts all others I have seen to shame - absolutely gigantic. I will shoot you a pick of the lower...but it can't compare to DaFossz's find in the mine. Always the bridesmaid...

Re: Biggest Lower Hemi?
you know what I'm saying?? I had the best trip to Aurora of my life and it pales in comparison to the glory he experienced that day. i'm just glad i could bask in his glow on the trip home. the people at taco bell knew that there was something special about his order!

Re: Biggest Lower Hemi?
There is a regular hunter at the Motoaka Cottages in Calvert MD that carries with him when he hunts a 3 1/4 inch hemi. I don't know his name, but he is an older fellow with long hair. He proudly shows that tooth off, and claims to have a root of one that would have Dwarfed the 3 incher. He found it right there at the cottages... That tooth is as pretty as any big meg!

Re: Biggest Lower Hemi?
If you ever run into that guy, see if he'll let you take a pic of it. I would really love to see a hemi that big!!
