Greens Mill Run in September
Anyone out there know the status of Greens Mill Run in NC? I'm going to Lee Creek in a few weeks and am considering stopping by the stream. I'm sure no one will tell whether or not to collect upstream or downstream, I just want to know if the stream is still open to collectors and fairly safe?

thanks,
Daryl.

RE: Greens Mill Run in September
it's open. I've collected up and down stream and found stuff on both sides of the bridge.

The stream is (as always) somewhat polluted. Broken glass and junk in some places. There are two big dogs just upstream of the bridge. They bark and run around a lot.

RE: Greens Mill Run in September
Thanks Chimp. I'm hoping the water levels from the recent hurricane will have receded by the time I go in late Sep. Do you normally tie a rope between you and your screen so it doesn't float away, or is it better to dig/sift near the banks so you can rest the screen up against the bank? The one time I went the current was pretty strong and I had a hard time keeping my screen still in between shovel fulls of gravel, and it's hard to hold the screen with one hand while trying to dig with just the other.

thanks,
Daryl.

I don't dig into the sides. I have a plastic sifter that floats so I just dig into the bottom then dump the stuff on the sifter.

What day were you planning your visit? I will be there
this weekend. Found three nice great whites on my last
visit about a month ago.

RE: Greens Mill Run in September
Hi. Me and my friend John are planning on being there this Saturday, just before noon sometime. If you're there and see two tall ugly dudes with screens, shovels, and waders, that's us.

vr,
Daryl.
