Post-Ernesto toothin' . . . the early birds catch the worms.
Okay, I took Friday afternoon off, planning, among other things, to hit for about an hour a well-known construction site in The Ville, hoping to be the first one there. I got there at 11:30 and saw fresh footprints everywhere. I found buttkus. Man, one has to get up pretty early in the morning to beat some of you fossil fanatics. Do you people not even go to work the day after a rain storm? ;) I am jealous.

Well I dont know about toothin' in NC and SC because I am from NJ and the farthest south I usually go is Md, but I know what you mean for sure. There is a Calvert cliffs site that I sometimes go to, and on a good collecting day its almost a guarantee that there will be hunters waiting in the parking lot well before sunrise, even on the coldest, most windy days of winter.

i go while its raining all the time.im usually in the ditches at low tide(if its tidal)so i can pillage the bottom and i scour the sides as its raining. im not as hard core as i used to be but one has to get smarter with experience if your going to expect to find a good haul.i found a 6 inches in primo shape today.my first land 6er with all specific spectrums.its black with tan marble and a few large lightening streaks through it.i didnt even have to dig for it .it was laying right on top of the turnover.also if you pay closer attention to noaa.com you get a lot better weather predictions than all your b.s. weatherban radios.heck the hotel shutdown (on account of storm)it was raining Lil and i had already called my wife to gather my gear because i was going on daddy break(tooth-in)she even packed me a lunch and a red bull for the road and spent the next few hours making footprints for all of yall to find.yes i was in da ville.dont worry i keep to charleston side mostly but, i couldn't turn down the chances of not getting the haul i wasn't expecting.i got twice as much as i usually do in my county.thanks village people for giving me this victory this time.ill try and get pictures posted (if d.w. wants too.)or you can go to myspace www.myspace.com/derikingram and see some of my Chas finds and i just got a new camera and will be posting a story on the storm soon(tomorrow)

i cant wait to see d.w. finds on that day.i know he had to have went.

I did not go! Its amazing, I know. I watched it rain steadily, buy lightly all Thursday. My favorite ditch needs a LOT of water really fast to be productive. I decided that it would be best for me to just bite the bullet, go to work, and tooth another day. I guess I could have gone somewhere else, but I didn't. Am I losing the edge? Anyway, congrats on the 6!! Send me pix and I'll put it up. What kind of camera did you get?

Congrats. I'd like to see the 6-inch tooth myself.
