On Sunday I filled a bowl with fossils and it was SUPER!
Ok I know that was corny, but I had my BEST day ever fossil hunting last Sunday . I got up real early, drove the 140 miles from my house, and went to a new area along the Potomac river. This was my first time ever on the Virginia side, and based on my results, it will not be the last. I found a number of cool finds starting with three whole Megs. 3 5/8" was the largest but a little worn, 2" white Meg in real good shape, and another small one that was worn. I found some nice Snaggletooth, the largest was a perfect 1 6/8" tooth. Next was a 5 1/2", four pound vertebrae, almost whole Ecphoria, Crocodile tooth, Porpoise tooth and small jaw section and a 2 1/2" section of a sting ray barb. What made this trip special was what I scored on big Mako teeth. 2 5/8", 2 3/8", 2 2/8", 2 1/8", 2", 1 7/8", and 1 5/8"!! All great quality teeth. The tooth of the trip was the 1 7/8" Mako. The quality, color and shape of this tooth is highlighted by the fact that it appears to have pathological "wrinkles" on the back side of the tooth. Very cool...and my best day yet! Chris

ha ha you got the fever,i can tell!!!!!!!oh no another victem fallen from the ditchweezil world.i cant tell you how many times ive bothered d.w. over my finds.i encourage you to(not bother him)but share your stories since im working so much i cant go as much like i used too.im proud of you man-keep going, just dont forget about the family, because it gets that bad at times(oh it will if you got the true fever) for most of us tooth worshipers.hey ditchweezil wil give you plenty of info too,hes taught me almost everything about anatomys and such and i.d. properly.
if it wasnt for him i would have no place to tell about my hunts and dreams of being a ditch hero.hope to see some of your finds oneday and best wishes to your new passion in life.stick with it.its healthy, cheap, and better than gold to me.

Your right..I think I am coming down with a fever!! I just cant wait till my three year old boy is a little bigger. Those cliffs are no place for him at this age! When I come home with new teeth I show him and he said they come from "brucey", the shark on Finding Nemo.

Whew... that's better! I feel like an addict when I hear a fossil story w/o a pic.

Thanks.

Thanks Ditchweezil for posting the pictures, it does make the story much better. That would be a really cool feature to have on this site!! We have been in a deep freeze up here. Ice and snow is actually making it nearly impossible to get in any teeth hunts latey, but it is helping to break up falls, so thats good. Chris
