pup ground ??
could be wrong but it seem to me after 4 years of hunting hard core in north charleston that the teeth seem smaller and are few large megalodon teeth available in the spots i concentrate on???however summerville there are prime teeth waiting to be extracted almost everywhere.every time i go to da ville i snag atleast 1 tooth over 3 and a half or bigger(most of the time)however the area i hunt all the time(north charleston) there seems to be alot of tannin staind smaller teeth.perhaps the formation over here is soaked and is causing all the gravel to me more loose and is crushing all the bigger megs??any one elts here noticing this or am i just an unlucky chum?

RE: pup ground ??
It sounds like you're having great luck! I'd be cutting flips if I found a tooth 3.5" or greater almost every time out. Maybe I have my fossil goggles on backwards or something..

RE: pup ground ??
I'm lucky to find one 3.5" tooth per year up here in Maryland!

But on the flip side, we have a lot of other teeth in greater abundance up here than compared to SC. A good example of what I'm talking about is Cow shark teeth - my favorite shark! I have hundreds of them from all positions. Viewing the finds here on DW's site the cowshark teeth seem very uncommon in SC.

vr,
Daryl.

RE: pup ground ??
not to say that those teeth i do find in da ville are of high quality.most are so worn that they are just big ole beaters.i know d.w. finds a big one about (almost) every time he hunts.i do to but its really hard to get anything over 3.5 in great condition(display types)on average in charleston county most of my teeth arte around 2.5 to 3. with the larger busted in some fashion to half or lode missing chunks.im thinking the only reason i get as many as i do,im persistant to the max at times.i focus on a spot about 6 to 8 hours in a day and im bound to find a biggen through out all the teeth from the haul.now construction sites are a matter of major hit or major miss around here.however the hunting ditches you have to know that particular area ,and most of the time you can pretty much tell what your gonna be expecting, however big one do pop out the more you hunt.these days are spent mainly working and ive cut my hunts down to 1/3 of the time i was spending.im still thinking the area i live was a shallow body for birthing while parts of da ville had to been some deep canal or something that the adults would go into for feeding at one time during there rein. it got to one -summervilles formations arnt destroying them as much or it this theroy.i do know alot of charleston county teeth are pretty beat from the reformulations however the chandler is keeping there teeth supreem in all areas found.
i wish i had a gigantic sift that was needed to hoist with a crane, thus would save on digging and atleast i would have more charleston county(north side) beauties.im so jelous of summerville folk
