Question about Peace River
This is my first post here.  I have enjoyed reading the information.  We would like to take our children to the Peace River in Fl. this weekend to look for sharks teeth.  Can anyone give us suggestions on the best way to do this.  My husband said when he was a kid they just went to the river and started looking.  Should be get a canoe or kayak then go up river?  Any info. would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Re: Question about Peace River
All you need to find teeth in the Peace River when it is low are a shovel and a sifter. Poke around in the bottom for the gravel and when you find it, screen it for teeth. A canoe is not required, but is helpful to get you to spots that are less hunted because they are further from boat ramps and other river access points.

Re: Question about Peace River

Hello. I have been thinking about collecting on the Peace River myself. My research led me to this website  www.peacerivercampground.com . It is a campground on the river with a canoe outfitter next door. If you want to pay for a guided tour you can contact www.fossilexpeditions.com . From what I've read and seen, the peace river can be a fossil treasure trove. Good luck.

Re: Question about Peace River
Actually right now the Peace River is so low that I couldn't make it to where I wanted to go the other day. I would not recommend renting a canoe right now.. If you email me I will get you a map of a good area within walking distance.  This is also the same area where the "Prosessional" fossil hunters charge people to go.
