The depths that some would sink to

Some lowlife(s) recently stole some fossils from the Smithsonian. Here's a link to a page with images with what was stolen. Spread this link around and with any luck the specimens will be recovered. - dw

Re: The depths that some would sink to
Speaking of lowlifes,   This recently happened to a good friend of mine,

Prehistoric shark teeth missing from residence

More than 50 prehistoric shark teeth are missing from a Port Charlotte residence.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, the owner, who lives on Lambert Road, returned home Saturday and noticed the door to his utility/storage room was open.

The man went into the room and noticed six display cases containing Megalodon shark teeth were missing. The Megalodon was a giant prehistoric shark that lived nearly 1 million years ago.

According to the report, the owner said three of the boxes contained 36 teeth that ranged from 4 to 5 inches in length. The remaining boxes had 27 teeth ranging from 5 to 6 inches in length. He estimated the total value of the shark teeth at $28,000.

I know it will probably be impoosible to track these down since there is no pictures of these , but if you hear of anybody trying to sell a bunch of Florida teeth cheap let me know.

People get pretty greedy when cool fossils surface.  Last summer here in Texas the lake levels dropped and some dino foot prints surfaced.  The local news did a story on it and about a week or two later, there were people sneeking out to the lake and trying to dig them out and steal them.  They pretty much ruined most of the prints and forced the city to cover them over with dirt to hide them again.  Theres always one person to ruin it for everyone!
