I added some artifacts for your viewing pleasure. I put everything under the North Carolina artifact heading even though the material comes from several states that aren't listed. Some of the material didn't fit the categories so it's a bit jumbled, but it's in there. Everything I put up is a personal find of mine. Some of these items left me smiling for days after finding them. Enjoy.
Nice artificats BRM! Thanks for posting those pics. I've never found any artificats before, it's nice to see what some look like so I have an idea what to look for, especially if you're looking for shiny or dull surfaces, different shapes, etc.
Daryl.
Thanks Daryl. Once you realize there are artifacts in the same places as teeth, you begin to notice them. A friend of mine couldn't seem to find an artifact to save his life, then one day he picked up a point off the beach. He has been finding them regularly since then. DW set up several more states in the artifact category and even put my artifacts where they belonged. Thanks DW!!! I'll post more artifacts and fossils next week. I got a call earlier tonight with a fossil trip invitation and now I have to go to Lee Creek this weekend. Darn!!! I really wanted to catch up on my laundry. Yea right!
I've not been keeping up with the forums much since I started back with my pesky habit of diving for shark teeth. I was just looking at JP's excellent N.J. artifacts, especially the awesome axes, and read that he had not found much in the way of pipe bowls with stems on them. I was going through some old pics a couple of weeks ago and there were a couple of pics of colonial type pipes I had accidently found while walking a stream and not finding the shark teeth I was looking for. If I was actually looking for artifacts I wouldn't have a fraction of what I have now. Maybe if I don't look for shark teeth when I dive I will find more six inch megs. Now there's some twisted logic for you. Pipe bowls with any amount of stem attached seem uncommon but pipes with near complete stems are rare. Not the items I was looking for, but I guess I can't complain.

I like the grooved axes and I have accidently found a couple but I would love to find a 1793 large cent. I find very few coins and the oldest I've found diving so far is from the mid 1970's. I have two 1794 large cents but I purchased them so they're neat but there is no thrill of discovery. The pipes are from an area that had a lot of hand blown bottle bottoms scattered along the river bank, in the woods, and a couple were in the stream. I suppose it could have been an old dump or close to an old road or boat landing. There are lots of "newer" stopper bottles in the rivers but I don't bother picking them up. It seems I find the more interesting non-fossil things in streams. One of my favorite pieces of glass is a very nice undamaged light blue Blob-Top beer bottle that was in a stream. What kind of condition is the 1793 cent in?
