Re: Fresh Dirt
Good luck with the snow.  You better get out soon to hunt before it all hits.

Re: Fresh Dirt
Thanks jax. I guess I'll dig the long johns back out and take a walk this afternoon. It's pretty chilly here, but if I don't go, I won't be able to live with myself. You know how it is. You never know what you might find.

Re: Fresh Dirt

I'm glad to hear that you got out and found some shark teeth. We had a pretty unproductive day. The field we went to was nothing but big chunks of wet dirt. It needs some more work and some rain. We did find a broken point (just the tang) and a few chips, but there really isn't much showing up yet.

Re: Fresh Dirt
Hey Bob S. How's the artifact hunting conditions up there in NY State? I think you are very fortunate to have fields to hunt in and my advice would be to take full advatage of it while you can. Here in NJ there used to be alot of farms but they are getting fewer and farther between. The main site I hunted for years has been sold. Fortunately for me, I am still allowed to hunt there and the farmer will be allowed to farm for another year or two. The new owners have placed very strict conditons on who is allowed on the property. So did you get rain over the past weekend or was it more snow? Good luck to you in your artifact hunts this Spring.
