Rappahannock River Va help!!!
Some years back I found some perfectly formed Clam like shells buried about 50' down in a layer of thick marine clay at a riverbank on the Rappahannock River - they were 2-3 ft above the current high water line and obviously were formed or preserved when the clay was laid down - maybe 2" wide by 3/4" thich - some were still joined together. They were white and didn't look like fossils at all - any of you Virginia experts know what they are and how old??
