Down by the banks 7/1 Trip

Just wondering if anyone can id the last  fossil pictured (long piece with holes in it) in Down by the banks 7/1 trip post.

Re: Down by the banks 7/1 Trip

Gimlie, that specimen is most definitely that of a fish jaw, specifically the upper half of jaw (Premaxillary dentary).  I'm not 100% sure of the species though, but my guess is Barracuda based on the size of the holes.  You can review the fish material on elasmo.com under the Lee Creek Teleost section to see if you see something similar.

Nice find.

Daryl.

Re: Down by the banks 7/1 Trip

Thanks for the id.  We have found 2 of these at Westmoreland.  And thanks for the great new site to check out.
