Here's a small 3/4 groove axe found on 4/28/07. Some axes have really nice proportions all around. This one is much thicker on one side than the other. Still, very nice to find a grooved axe .

This 3/4 groove axe has been ground and polished to a very smooth surface. One very visable area (same on both sides) has not been ground and the peck marks are very evident. I bought this axe and a few other things off a guy who collected in some big time sites in the Trenton area before there were alot of regulations reguarding collecting.

This is an elongated rock that was in the process of being made into an axe. You can see the original rind or skin of the rock very clearly and also the area that has been pecked away using a hammerstone. I traded for this out of an old colleciton. The finder did not think much of it but I like it alot.

Here are three busted 3/4 groove axes, all from the same field. Generally I don't get too excited about finding broken artifacts but axes are the exception to that.

Three 3/4 groove axes, all from the same field. The one on the left would have been a large one. The middle axe is the most recently found, and that was a few years ago. It's in decent shape. On the right is another busted one.

Here are three axes, all from the same field. The first is full grooved and crudely made. The second is also a full grooved axe and has damage to the bit. The third is a very nicely made 3/4 groove. All personal finds.
