Summerville Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
When I first found this tooth I thought it had feeding damage on the tip. It turns out after cleaning it up the tip is just slightly rounded. It still has all the serrations, full bourlette and both cusps. Plus, the color is awesome! ...
Summerville Angustidens tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
One missing serration keeps this beauty from being flawless. The color is amazing! I waited 3 days after I found it to take the picture because the color is so deep, I was sure it would fade when it dried but it never did....
Fossil Angustidens Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

A nice serrated angy with the tip and both cusps from the river.

...
Angustidens tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
A little worn, but very nice with a sharp tip and awesome color. The flat side actually looks like the picture. I included a picture of the tooth before I cleaned it to show how nasty it was. Sometimes, that gross coating hides some really great color....
3 1/2 inch angustidens   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
This has got to be one of my favorite positions of teeth. Very symetrical and thick. I have a few smaller teeth in the same position, and this spike easily takes the cake as largest. It has a little missing enamel just below the right cusp, but it DOES have the tip and both cusps - not to mention the superior root. A very nice find!...
4 1/4 inch angustidens   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
Not perfect, but still very nice and huge! Any angustidens over 4 inches is massive. This tooth is very stocky with a thick root unlike any I'ver ever seen. The two cusps are tiny and complete, obviously decorative in nature. The bourlette is complete, too, which really makes this tooth look nice....
Large Super Hero Angustidens Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

I never expected to find anything like this. When I first saw this thing underwater it was huge! The only small flaw is minor feeding damage to the tip, but I don’t care because everything else on the tooth rules. The serrations, root, bourlette, and cusps on this tooth are awesome! I love the color too! This is by far the best angy I’ve ever found to date.

Superhero Angustidens Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

This is why I hunt teeth. I have spent hours upon hours fanning sand in the river to get to the sticky, green ashley formation. Mostly, its featureless nothingness. Just clay. Then, sometimes I see a rock and I get excited. Several times during a dive, I come across a bone. A good number of smaller teeth and pebbles are mixed in, but usually not much else. I really have to move a lot of sand to see anything though.

Every once in a while, though, there is a nice toot...

Big River Angustidens   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
When I saw this fall out of the sand, I almost fainted. Everything looks bigger underwater, and this thing looked monstrous! Its river worn but complete....
2" C. Angustiden Pair   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

Two sharp angys from the Edisto.

...
Fossil Angustidens Shark Tooth   Beaufort County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
This tooth was completely encrusted with bryzoans when I found it. When I cleaned them all off, I was pleasantly surprised. Sure was nice of those little critters to keep this tooth nice for me!...
4" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

My largest tooth by far. This tooth is just over 4 inches on the slant and would probably be close to 4.5 inches if it had a tip. Its the first tooth partial or otherwise I ever found while diving.

...
Giant Fossil Angustidens Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
This is the new king of my angy collection and the largest that I've found to date. This tooth is just massive for a angy and the root is over 1 1/2" thick. ...
Angustidens Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

A really nice angy from the river.

...
Angustidens Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

A really nice sharp angustidens. Great tip!

...
Lower Angustidens tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
What a little killer! It looks like an auriculatus, but it came from the Chandler Bridge so it is an angustidens. Every serration is intact and the cusps are deadly little buds growing out of the edge. The tip is extremely sharp. I know the blade would cut through my hand like butter. The root is fantastic with barely even a hint of wear. Its got these giant, bulbous, rounded root lobes that really look like those on an auriculatus. The only flaw is the wear on the bourlette....
Yellow Angustidens shark tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

This is a really nice little tooth with beautiful color. My favorite feature is the ragged looking cusps. The shark tried so hard to grow good ones, but he just didn't try hard enough, and these barely popped out of the enamel.

Angustidens Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
This angustidens alone would have been enough to make the dive worth it, but I found so many other great fossils today that this tooth was overshadowed. Look at that orange bourlette, that olive enamel, the needlepoint tip, and the sharp cusps. Every serration is intact. What a beauty!...

...
Carcharocles angustidens - Oligocene Giant White Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

The thing I love most about this tooth is the shape. This is a lateral tooth so its very curved, almost like a serrated benedeni (wouldn't it be cool to find something like that!). Excellent overall condition.

...
Angustidens Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
This is a really sweet purple angy. The formations around Summerville can produce some wild colors in our fossils....

A tiny little gem....
Juvenile Posterior Angustidens Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
A sweet tiny little gem....
Giant Angustidens   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
My new king of the angustidens! Its from the reformulated layer so its got a few chips, but for the most part, this tooth is intact. The tip is sharp, the blade is serrated, the cusps are there, and so is most of the bourlette. When I took this tooth to Lafarge a couple of weeks ago to show some friends, I jokingly referred to it as megastidens ditchweezilensis . The biggest angustidens that I am aware of is at the charleston museum and if I am correct, it is a little over 5 inches long. I keep...
Juvenile Angustidens Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
A pristine little angustidens with absolutely no damage. The hawthorne layer laid directly on the chandler bridge in the pond where I found this tooth. While I was scooping gravel, I skimmed the chandler bridge and flipped this tooth out....
Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
Here's a litte beauty of a tooth with pretty much every feature - serrations, tip, bourlette, root, and nice reddish-orange color. I wish I had my camera because it looked cool on the ground....
Angustiden Deuce   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

Oligocene Giant White Shark (Carcharocles Angustidens) Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
The day I found this tooth I had a gut feeling that I needed to go hunting. I'm glad I listened to my inner fossil hunter because this tooth is probably the best angustidens I've found in 2 years. Teeth of this quality and size are just so hard to find anymore....
Fossil Giant White (Angustidens) Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
I found this killer tooth lying completely exposed on the edge of a pond after a heavy rain. I wish I could have taken a picture of it on the ground because it looked awesome lying against the white ashley formation that it had rinsed onto....

Angustidens Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

A case-worthy Angustiden. ...
Big Red - The angustidens that was almost a shamer   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
When I found this tooth, I noticed a leaf or something on the back. I didn't look closely underwater, but once I examined it on the boat, I could see that the enamel was separating from the back of the tooth. The separation was caused by a small chip of feeding damage next to the tip. Over the years that this tooth was exposed to the river, water and sand seeped into the little nick, finally resulting in the enamel separation. Then, I came along. I carefully cleaned all the dirt from under the e...

1 3/4" Angustidens shark tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
Great color, nice serrations, complete root and bourlette. A real beauty! These teeth normally come from the Chandler Bridge, but since the Wando formation is a reformulated layer, it contains fossils that were reworked from the Chandler Bridge. That's why I found this oligocene fossil in a pleistocene layer....
3 11/16" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
This is probably one of the finest blades I've ever seen on an angustidens tooth. Just killer serrations, cusps, enamel, color, and tip. But the root is a little pitted. If the blade had a flaw, I wouldn't even consider a restoration, but DANG! What do you think I should do? Get it restored? Leave it the way it is? If I do get it restored, I'll post a pic. I know someone who is REALLY good, so once its done, you won't be able to tell anything has been done. This person rebuilds roots as good as ...
2 9/16" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
One of the finest teeth I've found so far in the Edisto, this one has barely seen any wear at all....

Not big, but beautiful and perfect....
3 1/2" Angustidens Shark Tooth Fossil   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
One of the best Carcharocles angustidens teeth I've ever found is this 3 1/2 inch beauty. We've found 5 teeth over 4 inches in this one stretch of the river, and angustidens teeth that large are rare. This is a lateral tooth, too, so the shark that used to own this tooth probably had giant 4 1/2 inch anterior teeth. Imagine if the animal died there? I'm drooling on my keyboard just thinking about the wicked angustidens that could still be there!...
2 1/4" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
Not a single serration is missing from this gem of a shark tooth. The cusps are just massive!...
4" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

1 3/8" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens

3 5/16" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
One of the sharpest teeth I've ever found! Check out the close-ups of the tip and serrations. Also look at the cool little pathology. This is probably the best angustidens I'll find all year....
2 1/8" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
Here's another pristine, stunning beauty from the grey chandler bridge layer of the latest exposure we've been working. You'll NEVER see colors like these anywhere else!...
1 9/16" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
I found this one a little higher up in the layer, so truthfully, this one was probably reworked into a higher, younger, unnamed layer. It didn't really encounter any wear, though. All it did was soak up more killer colors....
1/2" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
1/2" Angustidens Shark Tooth

1 7/16" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
A few serrations are slightly nicked, but its still a gem....
2 1/16" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
This is one of the most beautiful teeth I've ever found. The white chandler bridge layer at this location produces spectacular fossils. I've dug in the same layer for hours in other spots and not found a single tooth, but this one I found by splashing a small area - what luck!...

1 1/2" Angustidens Shark Tooth
2 1/2" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
Just a flawless tooth! 99.7% perfect. Check out the cool little wave in the edge of the serrations near the tip....
1 3/4" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
This was in the very top of the Chandler Bridge / bottom of the wando formation. Its a fuzzy zone where some of the gravel from the wando has "seeped" into the chandler bridge. It makes digging nerve wracking because you normally listen when you dig the cb. when you hit something, you slow down because its always a fossil. when the rocks creep in, though, you never know. I broke one nice one today. This one is whole, thank goodness....
1 13/16" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
Its not a perfect tooth, but its got nice colors....
2" Angustidens Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles angustidens
A beautifully preserved, fantastically colored, needle sharp specimen from the big ditch. Just look at the killer tip on this tooth!...
