I found this cute little megalodon tooth scuba diving in the Cooper River.

Cooper River Megalodon Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I found this megalodon tooth scuba diving in the Cooper River in South Carolina.
...
5.5 Inch C. Megalodon   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
My largest complete Meg! A great tooth from a SC land site. Serrated, bourlette and a preserved root. ...
Pathologic Megalodon Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Normally I wouldn't post a broken tooth, but I had to make an exception with this megalodon tooth. Its so pathologic I almost didn't recognize it when I found it. The blade is compressed on both sides, the serrations are folded over, and the enamel is just all wrecked. Oh if only it had the other root lobe it would be the baddest patho in my collection. ...
Truck Meg   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
We don't find a lot of complete megalodon teeth in the section of the Edisto where we hunt so this tooth was a nice surprise. Its definitely not the best one I've ever found, but it has an interesting job in my collection. This is now my truck meg - the tooth I keep in my truck so when people ask me what I'm doing and they don't believe me I can show this tooth. Then I have something even if I'm empty handed in my collecting efforts thus far....
Serrated Megalodon Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
We don't find megalodon teeth in good condition in the river where we hunt ususally, but this one was a nice surprise, especially since its serrated with the tip!...
2-1/4" Meg   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A decent Meg from the Edisto. Worn, but I like the color....
Summerville Megalodon Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A nice little meg tooth....
Large Angustidens Shark Tooth in Matrix   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
It is very rare to find a tooth of this quality still stuck in matrix. But this stuff isn't the original matrix. The ocean eroded this spot out and redeposited this tooth. Whatever the minerals are in this area the layer is hard....
Posterior Megalodon Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Worn but still sweet!...
2" C. megaodon posterior tooth   Potomac River, Maryland, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

A worn and complete posterior meg tooth. Nice bourlette on this tooth.

...
3.5 inch C. Megalodon   Potomac River, Maryland, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

Megalodon Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

Edisto River Megalodon Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

This megalodon tooth was without a doubt the most unexpected surprise of the dive. Normally we are looking for the Oligocene giant white shark teeth - Carcharocles angustidens. The area of the South Carolina Lowcountry that this part of the Edisto river cuts through is not well known for nice megalodon teeth, but sometimes we get lucky.

To date, this is the biggest & best megalodon tooth I've found in the Edisto river.

...
Edisto River Megalodon Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
It is so rare to find megalodon teeth in the section of the Edisto river where I dive. For some reason, they are just not there in any kind of quantity. When we do find them, they are almost always destroyed, sand blasted and crushed to fragments. When I swam upon this tooth, I was utterly shocked. Not only was it complete, but it also had enamel. Voila, my first complete keeper megalodon tooth from the Edisto river....
Posterior Megalodon Shark Tooth   Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
When I hunt fossils, I pick up everything I find. I remember finding this tooth - I thought it was just a root with a busted off blade. I casually threw it in my bone / tooth fragment bag and went merrily on my way collecting teeth. When I got home I cleaned it up and noticed that the enamel was intact, and this was an extreme posterior megalodon tooth. A very cool find! I am really glad I picked it up!...
Venice Megalodon Tooth   Sarasota County, Florida, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

My best meg of the trip. I saw it laying out completely exposed on the bottom. It also has some very nice symmetry.

...
3-1/16" Venice Meg tooth   Sarasota County, Florida, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

One of my favaorite tooth positions!

...
2-3/4 Venice Meg   Sarasota County, Florida, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

...
3-7/8" Mottled Venice Meg   Sarasota County, Florida, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

I never thought I would find a mottled tooth from this site! Killer!

...
Venice Megalodon Tooth Bone Valley Formation   Sarasota County, Florida, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is the megalodon tooth I drove to Venice Beach Florida to find. Its a superhero of the highest order worthy of the top shelf in my megalodon tooth collection. The color is fantastic (true of many bone valley formation megalodon teeth), its sharply serrated with the tip, and the root is complete with no real damage besides a few hydration cracks. One of the coolest features is a bite mark across the bourlette, seen just left of center. A true gem!...
Venice Megalodon Tooth   Sarasota County, Florida, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A nice Venice Megalodon tooth from the Bone Valley formation about a mile offshore....
Posterior Bone Valley Megalodon Tooth Venice Beach   Sarasota County, Florida, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A really sweet megalodon tooth from the Bone Valley formation found while scuba diving offshore from Venice Beach, Florida....
Posterior Megalodon Tooth from Venice Florida   Sarasota County, Florida, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A really nice posterior megalodon tooth from Venice Florida. This is the first megalodon tooth of this position I've ever found....
Summerville Megalodon Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I was so thrilled to find this megalodon tooth - it was completely unexpected. We have found pieces of megalodon teeth at this location before, but never a complete tooth. This one is a beauty, too, with a blue root and white lightning running through it....
GMR megalodon tooth!   Green Mill Run, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is the best megalodon tooth we have found from GMR. meg teeth like this are few and far between at least for us. length is just shy of three inches.and while not killer sharp the serrations are still easily visable. this was found by my father eaither in 03 or 04.This tooth would have been in the upper right section of the sharks jaw. I still wish these were as abundant as the great white teeth we found there.&...
my first matrix meg   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
my first matrix meg
5" Meg   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

My wife found this gem on our very first trip into the mine back in (I think) November 2004. It was found on what the guides referred to as ‘seal hill,’ over on the far left side of the collecting area (as one went down the ramp), nearest the highwall.<...

3" Megalodon   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

Found in the "pit car" material. Good shape though.

...
4-1/4" Megalodon   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

My first complete Yorktown Meg....12 years in the making!

...
3 7/16 inch Lee Creek Pungo Megalodon Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

This Pungo megalodon tooth was definitely my trip maker. I'm glad I brought my camera because the ground shot is great. The preservation on this tooth is unreal! I've been internally conflicted about what to call this, Chubutensis or Megalodon. I found it in the Pungo formation which is where chubs come from and there is the hint of cusps just below the root on each side. But I finally decided that the "cusps" weren't pronounced enough for me to accept them as cusps and I sett...

4-1/8" Megalodon
3-3/8" Megalodon   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
3-3/8" Megalodon
Pathologic Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Worn, but the root is really strange. Almost like the root was made of putty and someone smashed the middle of the root with their thumb. A great find! Its tough to find megalodon teeth in any state of preservation in the ditch where the weezling found this megalodon....
Aurora Megalodon Shark Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is my first complete meg from the Yorktown. It has a little feeding damage but still a nice tooth....
3-1/2" Aurora Meg   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

...
1 3/4" Lee Creek Megalodon   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

2 9/16" Lee Creek Megalodon
Aurora Megalodon Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

A gorgeous Aurora megalodon tooth that I found on the same mound where I found another megalodon last season in the mine. On top of the the SR part of BRSR found another megalodon on the same hill. That's 3 megs all from the same hill. I'm thinking that Yorktown is pretty good stuff.

This is the best quality megalodon tooth I've ever found in Aurora, complete with serrations, tip, bourlette, and a nice root. I hav...

Beaufort SC Megalodon Tooth   Beaufort County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is the best tooth I found during my recent diving trip in Beaufort SC during RivrDigrFest '08. Sorry there is no ground shot, but I didn't even see it before I picked it up! Zero Vis diving is like that....
Megalodon or Great White??? and why!   Calvert County, Maryland, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

I just finished up reading the heated forum of the Calvert Cliffs Great White. This is the only tooth that seems to be even a possibility in my collection. This so happens to also be the very first meg/white tooth I ever found. It came from the northern most tip/oldest. The tooth obviously appears to be a lower Anterior position.

It doesnt appear to have a bourlette

The root although damaged doesnt appear to ever have been much of a root. Especial...

Pathologic Megalodon Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A worn, but very pathologic megalodon tooth I found sifting for shark teeth in Dutch creek....

This was my redemption against my wife good fortune at Lafarge.

...
Aurora Megalodon   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
The rain that the mine had all week softened the ground and made digging a little easier. I found this beauty burried about 3 inches in a soft hill of Yorktown....
6 1/4" Meg   Craven County, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is the largest that I have ever found.  Its got all the serrations minus a few nicks.  But you wont here me complain...
Nice Aurora Lower Meg   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

This is one of the nicest teeth to date.  It has a perfect tip and serrations all the way down.  It even has a little wrinkle on one side at the base of the enamel.

...
Lee Creek Megalodon Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

As just about anyone who goes to Lee Creek what they would most like to find and they'll probably say a megalodon tooth. I'm no different. I'll jump on that bandwagon. Megalodon teeth are cool, and among megalodons, those from Lee Creek measure up nicely when compared to specimens found anywhere else in the world.

I'll never forget finding this meg tooth as long as I live. The Lee C...

Lovely aurora Meg   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This was on a hill that was covered in James City. I had *hoped* that nobody would check there, and it appeared they had not. I also hoped that james city was only the top of the hill with better stuff underneath; appears I was right there too. I almost quit walking that hill too - lucky for me I didn't :)...
Nice Meg from Aurora   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Nice Meg from Aurora

A very nice, complete specimen from the Bone Valley. Nice green hue too.

nice megalodon   Craven County, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

I was very lucky to even find this tooth.  I had slipped down a little hill of mud and right in front of my face I seen the edge of a blade and thought that I had found a huge Great White but when I began to dig the tooth out I realized it was a little bigger than what I first thought.

4 3/4" White & Black Speckled Meg   Craven County, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

I got real lucky when I found this one.  I started to slide down a hill while still looking and when I came to a stop I was looking right next to a log and saw about 1/2" of enamel and a small section of  root.  I started to dig it out and was doing the please be whole chant the entire time.  Luckily it came out fairly decent with a little nick on the tip and&nbs...

4 1/4 inch Aurora Megalodon Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This megalodon shark tooth was in a flat area at the bottom of a hill of Yorktown. It has a bunch of wrinkles in the enamel on the flat side where the blade meets the root....
4 1/2 inch Yorktown Megalodon Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I was so excited when I saw the tip of this megalodon tooth poking out of the Yorktown. As far as I'm concerned, its the pinnacle of tooth collecting....
Aurora Megalodon Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

With all the success I had during my Aurora trip this weekend, I didn't find a complete Yorktown megalodon until I was walking back to the bus at the end of the day. I was at the top of a mound of Yorktown and Pungo mix, and this tooth was just to the right of a knee high ridge of material. There were some weeds growing near it that hid it from view of the other side of the ridge. Some other collector had walked the other side of the ridge, but didn't hit this side. The person walked wi...

Lee Creek Megalodon Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

This is the first megalodon I found on my Aurora trip. I found it 10 minutes after the hunt started and I was too excited to slow down to take a ground photo. Sorry.

...
Summerville Megalodon Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

I love SC land teeth. They are my favorite because the colors are so great! This megalodon is no exception. The spot I found it has some crazy colored rocks so the teeth, when whole, are always gorgeous. There are so many colors in the enamel I can't even start to name them all. Even the bourlette is intact and marbled. The tip is there, and so are the serrations. The root isn't the greatest, but its complete and the crack doesn't go all the way through, thank goodness. Else, I would ha...

4" Restored Lee Creek Meg   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

I decided to post a restored shark tooth for a few reasons. First, the blade on this Meg is great. Second, the classic Lee Creek coloration makes for an aesthetic tooth. With only some root damage, I thought this one was a good candidate for restoration.

...
Reworked Yorktown Megalodon Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A the base of the Yorktown formation lies a thick lag deposit. There are megalodon teeth mixed in this layer, and thats where I found this massive, beat up tooth. With a tip it would be 6 inches....
Lee Creek Megalodon Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is the biggest Lee Creek megalodon tooth I found so far. Unfortunately, it is missing some serrations and enamel but it is impressive nevertheless. The root is fantastic with awesome little ears that extend out over the enamel on both sides of the root. The tooth was barely exposed so I almost missed it....

3- 5/8" megalodon...
Colorful Megalodon Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This tooth is a great example of why hunting sharks teeth never gets old for me. The color! I never found anything that was blue and orange with lightning marks on the root before. Its completely serrated from root to tip and its probably better than any megalodon I found all last year. The ground shot is nice!...
Fossil Megalodon   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A really nicely colored megalodon from a Summerville land site. You can see where my shovel blessed it on the right root lobe. I didn't take a ground shot because it was getting dark when I found it and I was in a digging frenzy....
Megalodon Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I knew this little serrated megalodon was complete as soon as I saw it because it was laying flat side up. Normally when I find them curved side up they have peel. I think this is because the curved side erodes more quickly when exposed....
Summerville Land Megalodon   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This tooth has seen some better days but its still a complete tooth in my opinion. Its got great color and the photo I took of it on the ground before I picked it up is great!...

Megalodon Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This pretty little megalodon tooth was almost completely buried when I found it. Just half of the right root lobe was exposed as I spotted the flat side of the tooth. I wish I had my digital camera, but I learned my lesson earlier this year. I will never take my camera out in the rain again....
Fossil Megalodon Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Its got a little root rot, but the colors on the enamel are great. I have a soft spot for lighthing marks in the enamel. Plus, it has pretty decent serrations and the tip....

Big Black Megalodon   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon

4 1/2" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
By far the best megalodon I've found all year. It's serrated, has great color, and my favorite thing about this tooth would have to be the white lightning streaks that are all over the display side of the tooth....
Summerville Land Found Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Barely visible, I spied this megalodon peeking out from under the dirt. Its a little worn like all Summerville megalodons, but it has beautiful marbling and is a very light color. Classic Summerville! With so many people collecting, its getting tougher to find these!...

Fossil Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
When I first found this, I was impressed that it was large and complete, but it wasn't until it dried that I began to notice how cool it really looked. The jet black root has some nice marbling right on the front, and the enamel has light marbling running through both sides. Plus the bourlette is completely intact. A really nice megalodon tooth!...

Fossil Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is a beast of a tooth! Its over 1 1/4 inches thick and has a wicked curve to it. There are these wrinkles on the back of the tooth because the shark's mouth was so crowded with teeth that this one didn't have time to grow. The root has this cool blue line across it, and the serrations are even mostly intact. If the stupid machine hadn't nicked it on the front of the root, it would be perfect. Still an awesome tooth....
