Lazy Fossil Hunting

The weather has been sopping wet this spring in coastal South Carolina. Every week it seems like we get at least one day where it pours enough to make it worth while to go to the ditch. tha weEzlinG is all over me to take him to the ditch every time he sees a raindrop, so I've always got someone to hunt with. Today was like most other days, we leisurely walked the same route and looked in the same spots and remarkably, there were more teeth. The easy eroding Chandler Bridge is far above the bottom of the ditch, so most of the teeth we're finding are coming right from the underlying Ashley formation, so they are a little older that the teeth I was finding at the same ditch just two years ago. To get teeth any older, though, we'll have to wait for the ditch to get about a hundred feed deeper, and at that point, I don't think I'll be around to collect it.
