Down to the wire

I was supposed to go digging in the morning with tha duDe, but my wife didn't get any sleep last night, so I stayed home to take care of the kidz. I wasn't denied for the day, though, and I got to go out in the evening for a few hours. I took a friend that just moved back in to town out to top secret with me, and we hunted the hills like madmen. It was cloudy, so we only had a little time to hunt. I went one way, and he went another, and we didn't see each other again until dark. I don't know where he went, but I searched areas that I hadn't hunted in months. Normally, we avoid those spots because of the high potential for snakes and ticks. But I figured I could remove any ticks that latched on, and snakes... well, I would figure it out if I ran into a snake. I braved the 7 foot tall weeds, but there was nothing awesome waiting for me except some big frogs. I finally worked my way back to the digging spot, it was almost dark, and it was starting to rain, so I didn't have much time. I still needed something awesome to take home. I had dug a trench about 18 inches wide, 15 feet long, and 6 inches deep when I found it - my meg. I carefully removed it from its earthen prison, and I yelled out to my friend so we could go. It was really raining hard, and I was worried about getting stuck on the dirt road on the way out. I'm somewhat gunshy about that lately :-). Well, We did make it out, but I had to do about 30 mph down the muddy road to clear the mud holes. My friend now thinks I'm crazy, which only makes him different from the other people I hunt with in that they already knew that.
