Baked Weezil

Since I found a great spot to dig that was not dependent on the absence of construction crews, I decided to make the most out of it. Every day this week (except Thursday) I went digging at lunch. Man, it was HOT! On Monday, it was 96 degrees, and I thought I was going to die. It got a few degrees cooler as the week went on, but nevertheless, it was still scorching. One day, I even pulled a move out of the neophyte fossil hunter's book - I fell down the side of the ditch. While I didn't find the megs I thought would be there, I did find several nice ones - the great white and the mako are really nice. Also of interest is in the photo, lower right. It’s a chunk of mastodon tooth I found digging. This is just a piece of it. Normally, there are three more ridges that look just like this that make up one tooth. Its amazing to find this much still intact. As long as there is layer left in the ditch, I'll be digging at lunch. I've lost several pounds this week! COMING SOON - THE NEW, THINNER DITCHWEEZIL!
