First Post / Great weekend by Snaggatooth

This is my first post, so I hope it works out ok.

Day 1

My cousin and I decided to take a long weekend and take the 5 hour ride down to Maryland early friday morning.  The original plan was to hit the Potomac on Friday and move to the Chesapeke on saturday.  This was my first trip to the Potomac and as soon as I hit the beach I could see it was going to be awesome.  My cousin has been to this spot before and we started on a long walk toward the productive cliffs.  On the way I ran into Tom on his way back and he showed me a few of his finds which fired me up a bit more, and he also was kind enough to offer a bit of much appreciated advice. As soon as we left tom I saw a nice little Otodus flop up in the wash, that's what we're here for. By the time we approached our destination I already had an impressive bunch of Striatolamia and a few Cretolamna. My cousin and I split up and were both doing very well with a few nice Otodus each. I finally wandered my way up to my cousin and within 5 minutes I lucked out and found a beautiful Otodus 1 3/4 inch and within 5 minutes later in knee deep semi cloudy water I spotted the whopper. A 2 1/4 inch fat Otodus just laying there. Needless to say I became a "bit" excited picking it up and seeing it intact.

Day 2

The following day we hit the Chesapeake to find very high water only shortly after low tide, pressing close to the cliffs.  We found a few teeth but with the tide coming in we decided to pull the plug and take the ride back over to the Potomac. We covered many miles of beach and had another good day.

Day 3

Back to Chesapeake where the water had receeded a bit compared to Saturday and also cleared up some since the wind layed down overnight. It was not an easy day for finding teeth but I was real happy with a few very nice Hemipristis among the usual assortment.  My cousin came out with the biggest intact hemi I've ever seen. No megs but we had plenty to talk about on the ride back to NJ.

What a trip!  Below are the mostly intact stuff from the 2 days at the Potomac, including a small Native American point I found. An acquaintance said it may be a bird point.

That is a truly impressive Otodus! It was great meeting you and your cousin, and I'm glad your trip was so successful. I just wish I had seen that big one in person, I gotta start checking the deeper water a little better! The Paraorthacodis is a great find too! Content Quality : 10 of 10

I might have missed you on Saturday, arriving at the Bay around 11 am. I might have taken your parking space, LOL! Nice Otodus, and also that Paraorthocodus is a good find as well. Congrats! I will post my stuff from the Bay later when I'm not quite so busy. I did OK, but the high water made things tough for sure on Saturday. I did OK considering. Content Quality : 10 of 10
