This tooth has some of the best color I've seen in a Chilean tooth. Its a unique mustard colored tint that I've not seen from elsewhere. I just got this in trade.... |

1 15/16" Pathologic Mako Shark Tooth
Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Isurus hastalis |
This is a complete but worn mako tooth - no comparison to the quality of the makos I found at Aurora last week, but this one has something else going for it - a really cool looking pathology. Where the blade meets the enamel on the right side is really twisted up. This normally happens on large teeth like megalodons because the teeth become bunched up in the shark's mouth and the teeth wrinkled up to make room for each other. I don't know what this tooth's story is, but it looks cool.... |

This is an absolute gem mako from Superpit. This is the best preserved tooth I've found from that location to date. The edges are razor sharp and translucent, the thin bourlette is 100% complete, the root is as perfect as can be, and the color is fantastic. Plus, its the position in the mouth between the anterior and lateral teeth - the little stubby tooth in between the big ones. This one is so pretty that it qualifies to be a necklace for my wife. I only find one or two teeth a year that measu... |

This would have to be the best mako I've found to date sense the Forbidden Pond dried up, where I had found a 2 15/16" mako that I haven't added to the site yet. The color on this mako is spectacular, it has a unique feature to making it look sord of tiger striped on one side. Just a perfect mako.... |

2 1/2" Mako Shark Tooth
Colleton County, South Carolina, USA - Isurus hastalis |

Its been a while since I found a Mako this big! I was on the bottom of the river fanning the sand, and this puppy just popped out. Underwater, everything looks 25% larger than above water, so when I first saw it, it was giant! And its in great shape, too. No real defects on this one.... |

1 13/16" Mako Shark Tooth
Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Isurus hastalis |
This tooth is as close to perfect as land teeth get where I come from. And the coolest part is that Wednesday when I walked the pond where I found this tooth, I walked right past it. My footprint was 6 inches from this tooth, and today I just happened to see it while I was taking a drink. The root on this baby is supreme. It has these little ears that extend over the blade that really give it a cool look.... |

2 1/16" Mako Shark Tooth
Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Isurus hastalis |
The condition of this tooth is really great considering the layer I found it in. Giant rocks mixed in with sandy clay normally make for pummeled teeth, but this tooth somehow survived intact. The colors are awesome - yellow with white marbling. The edges are sharp, and the root is complete as well.... |

2 1/8" Mako Shark Tooth
Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Isurus hastalis |
This is surely the first of many teeth to come from a promising new ditch. From what I can tell, everything there will be really light colored like this tooth. Its SWEET! The marbling is killer. Brown and orange lines criss-cross the white root and blade. There is a little wear, but if you had seen the size of the gravel in this new spot, you'd wonder how this tooth made it out in one piece!... |
2" Mako Shark Tooth
Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Isurus hastalis |

This tooth has the most amazing colors! The root has a little wear, but the blade is great. The edges are sharp and so is the tip. To believe I found this on a road where giant track hoes routinely drive. Its amazing that this tooth is still whole.... |

2 1/8" Mako Shark Tooth

Unbelievable colors, a flawless root, razor sharp edges, and a sharp tip are the best features of this tooth. What else is there? I guess that makes this one perfect.... |

3" Mako Shark Tooth
Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Isurus hastalis |
Every once in a while, I come across a true rarity. A fossil representative of the splendor of nature. This is one of those fossils. A true 3 inch mako. Its MASSIVE. Period. They don't get much bigger than this. The biggest I ever saw was 3 1/4 inches long. And this tooth, as massive as it is, is still in fantastic condition. It has a great root, and the blade is razor sharp. The colors are fantastic, and its chatoyant - that is, when you look at it at different angles, it is a different color. ... |
