This past Summer in Surry

So my first attempt at this...  Down at Chippokes poking around some weedish vines I came across this whale earbone, then another time I saw juuust the tip of this Sperm Whale tooth (?) sticking out of the bank.  I never seem to find the teeth as well as many do on here.  Near there, I also found these pufferfish mouth plates, in two different places; the last one on the riverbank behind my parent's house.. last Sunday. Never knew I'd find anything there!  Hopefully it's a long road ahead.  The tooth with them I found on the shore at Chippokes earlier.  ....blacktip?
Oh, and on the way back offshore, I found one of these red ridged conchs almost whole one of those otherwise unsuccessful days.

You're hunting in my neck of the woods, dusty. :) Those are pretty neat finds for Chippokes... the shell you found is called Ecphora gardnerae (I believe). check out this website... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecphora_gardnerae

I'd say with that sperm whale tooth it was not "otherwise unsuccessful"... Content Quality : 10 of 10

It has been tricky getting photos from my phone to my computer, etc. On the pufferfish mouth plates, I'd originally thought it looked like a tiny crab carapace. I saw otherwise when I stopped at a wildlife/park center in the Edisto area, on the way to a beach to look around. They had a small collection of them under the glass. I'll have to get them together... drum teeth, other (small) shark teeth, etc. I guess I should post the pile of stuff I found in Charleston in SC?
