The beach had been pretty well picked over by the time I got there Wednesday afternoon, and although I had scored a sweet Mako, the Megs were nowhere to be seen.  I decided to head back in, and call it a day, happy with the nicest Mako that I've found in a while, plus two lowers.  I love the curved laterals, and this one was in great condition and good sized at 1-5/8ths.

When I go hunting, I carry a rake, about 6 inches wide, with some wire mesh wrapped around part of the tines.  Primarily, this rake gets used as a walking stick, but it's also great for quickly scooping up any teeth that I spot in the surf..  As I was walking back, through about 6 inches of water, I felt a gravelly patch under the rake head.  What the heck, I blindly scooped up some of the gravel, and there was a sweet little Chubby in the mesh basket!  It measures 2-1/8" with sharp serrations and great cusps, just a bit of tip damage.  So of course I spent the next 45 minutes or so blindly scooping, but didn't find much else.

I must say, though, that the weather was great!  No thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail, or 50 mph winds!

Good Hunting!
