I hate my new mask

Today I took fellow web fossilers fossilguy and fossilgirl to one my favorite spot in the Edisto River. I had never dived the river as high as it was today, so I wasn't sure about the current, but it didn't look bad so we suited up and jumped in. After my success last week fanning away the sand, I decided to employ the same technique today. I drifted down river a good way, then worked my way back as I fanned away the sand. I hardly found anything the whole first dive, but that's the way it is when you hunt the chandler bridge formation. You either hit it big, or you strike out. As I suited up for my second dive, I listened in horror as fossilguy told me how they were washed down river by the current, and not even jamming their screwdrivers into the bottom could stop them. They ended up swimming ashore and walking through a guy's yard to get back to where we parked. The guy is cool, though. I talk to him just about every time I go to this spot. He's the one who saw the two dolphins and the manatee. Anyway, the second dive, only fossilguy and I dove. I showed him the layer on the bottom this time, then we both went to work. For the whole dive, I moved sand then saw nothing. I couldn't believe how much nothing there was down there! Not a single big tooth anywhere! I found little teeth and whale bones sticking out of the Chandler Bridge, but no big teeth. I found some decent stuff while fanning the sand, but I must say that I left disappointed today. I probably would have found more, but I was fighting with my mask all day. It kept flooding and I kept purging it. I decided today that I HATE my new mask and that I should go back to my old one. I am glad, however, that fossilguy scored some nice ones. Look for his take on the trip on his site. Next Wednesday I'll do the right thing and use my old faithful clunker mask. All the stuff I've found diving have been with that one. Maybe its magic??
