5 5/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth

This tooth was lots of things for me today - the last tooth I found, the best one I found today, the biggest one I found today. Its so awesome that my wife said it was awesome, and she normally doesn't care much about teeth. I think I'm gonna call it the prettiest megaldon tooth I've ever found. What a killer! Serrations, perfect root, magnificent coloration and marbling, a small pathology on the blade, big, thick,... I could go on and on, but I'll let the pix speak for themselves.
Location Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA
Species Carcharocles megalodon
Age Pliocene Epoch
Formation Hawthorne Formation
Category Shark Teeth
Length 5 5/16 inches

Date Added11/16/2003

unbelievable colors!
it looks like a completely different tooth on this side. i won't be putting this tooth away for days!
It was getting dark quickly as I snapped this photo. Luckily, my flash worked and the photo came out nice. I was excited from the first second I saw this one.
