Big Black Megalodon

Though river teeth are commonly black, we don't find too many of them at land sites in Summerville.
Location Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA
Species Carcharocles megalodon
Age Pliocene Epoch
Formation Hawthorne Formation
Category Shark Teeth
Length 4 1/16 inches

ID1826
Memberdw
Date Added10/15/2006

A good looking tooth! I don't have too many black megs in my collection.
You can really see the serrations well in this photo. I was surprised that this tooth would still have any serrations left considering I found it on top of the ashley formation under the chandler bridge.
The ground shot. The tooth is right on top of the ashley formation, but you can see it because of the dirt. The dark sediment is chandler bridge. This tooth should have been on top of it, but instead I found it beneath. Wierd!
