On Super Bowl Sunday I went to a new area for me along the Potomac river in Virginia. The day started off slow until I found a 1 6/8" Snaggletooth. I went through a second mini dry spell then I came across the best 50 yard stretch of beach that I have ever encountered. Three whole Megs, the largest was 3 5/8" but river worn, and a nice white/peach Meg that was a 2" beauty. A Weekend of OUCH!!

Well, Paleoscan and I had this weekend on our calendars for months now - a fossil trip to the James River. With any luck we would visit numerous formation locality type sites and find some nice fossils.

My fossil collecting partner (Buddy the dog) and I went down to the Potomac in Westmoreland County VA where I have often found some fine teeth. We scaled down the cliff and began to work the gravel. Soon I found some nice hemis and the cetacean tooth. After walking a couple of miles we headed back working the surf and found some more nice but not exciting Miocene fossils.
