Sweet toads and awesome plate. You must have snuck that last December hunt in just under the gun. No one is hunting anything along the Potomac for at least another few weeks or more with this weather. Between the snow and all the ice she's frozen up solid in the bays with no sniff of temps in the 40's any time soon. :-( Here's hoping for an early spring! Content Quality : 10 of 10

Thanks Jason. Yeah I was lucky enough to get down there before all this weather hit. I haven't been able to get out much recently because of work, but I guess it's not a bad time to be busy with the cold like this. Hope to see you out there again soon though. Happy hunting!

Potomac is now frozen over - 12/25/2010

Greg, nice finds. Yep, you beat the freeze along the shoreline just in time. I went down a few weeks ago and was shocked when I saw the shoreline frozen over. There's a large pile of frozen slush along the shore, mixed with pieces of seaweed, and the water is frozen/slush for about 20 feet from the shore going out into the water. So, to salvage my 60 mile trip I hunted high along the banks and found a few odds and ends. That part of the river freezes much quicker due to the water being less salty than the Bay and it doesn't get as much movement. Looks like hunting there is frozen till the Spring thaw. Great report!
