These two teeth are the highlight of this fossil hunting season.  Both would be at least 1/4 - 1/2" longer if not for the feeding wear on the tip.  Neither are prestine, but both are in great shape for the size and make great additions to the collection.  The left tooth had particularly large cusps with a nice wave action.

This tooth has so much going for it. A super bourlette, a perfect root, two jagged, fully intact cusps, great color. Too bad about the tip! It had to have just washed out of the formation because it hadn't had time to get covered with that black river stain yet. I'm not used to seeing teeth this pretty laying on the bottom of the river.

Killer tooth. The lingual side still has some matrtix, so I only snapped a labial shot. Check out the mottling!

I was fanning sand that was about 3 inches deep when I saw the root lobes of this tooth sticking up out of the fossil bearing formation at the bottom of the river. I carefully removed some of the formation with my screwdriver before pulling out the tooth to make sure I didn't break it when I pulled it out. Then a gentle tug later, I held the prize in my hand. Not a superhero, but a whole 3-inch angy is a nice find!

An angy with great color and lightning.  Most of the serrations are present, the tip has some feeding wear, and the root some cracking.  The tooth has an interesting curve to it.

A smaller angy, but great river quality.  Both cusps, tip, full root and almost all the bourlette! There is some streaking near the tip as well.

This is it! This is the tooth I've been looking for all year long! its a massive upper principal angustidens tooth with a serious attitude from the Edisto river in fantastic condition. It measures 3 31/32 inches along the longest diagonal, just a hair below the magic 4 inch number, but I'm not complaining.

My favorite finds are always the teeth with good color. They are very difficult to find in good condition, but today I found a really nice one with super color. This angustidens is covered on the front and back with all kinds of lightning strike color patters. Two nice Edisto angustiden teeth. Largest is 2.75 inches (+/- .06 inhces).

This gem angustidens was prize numero uno for my post tropical storm Hanna fossil hunting at Dutch Creek with the Weezling. This angustidens shark tooth is one of the most perfect shark teeth I've ever found. Its not missing a single serration anywhere. The bourlette is complete and there are no dings in the root.
