Pungo Megalodon Shark Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Around mid-morning, I stumbled on this little gem lying in a shadow at the bottom of a hill of Pungo. I found my first NC megalodon a few years ago, but it was small and beaten to a pulp. Since then, I've so wanted to find a killer (just like everybody else!) to take its place in my collection. This is the one! Its not huge, but its absolutely stunning....
Megalodon Shark Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Near midday, da f0ssZ and I reached the middle of the mine where the greatest concentration of weeds are. We surmised that the plant life obscured the view of plainly exposed teeth, meaning that if you didn't walk right onto the tooth, you couldn't see it. Near a valley between two giant hills of Yorktown, a hundred yards from any water, I stumbled on a chunk of Holocene Coprolite, the size of which was incredible to behold. I would have guessed a bear left it there had there not been little wad...

Here’s the big find of the trip - a 3&7/16 inch black meg. Its water worn, has a dinged tip and one of the root lobes has some damage but it’s the second largest Meg from the bay that I’ve ever found so I’m quite thrilled with it....

Fluke Megalodon Tooth 2005   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This tooth is awesome, man! It would totally get the Krusty Brand seal of approval. The serrations are awesome, and the tip is there. The bourlette is like 95% complete. And the root, oh man, solid as a rock and not a ding. What a score!...

5 1/2" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is the best megalodon tooth I found all year. I'm still stoked about flipping it out. Jedi Master was digging in a spot and gave up to smoke a cig. I walked over a hill, saw him there, and came over to talk to him. I jumped down in the ditch and started digging where the wall had collapsed on his prior work, and within seconds, I flipped out this super hero. Its completey serrated with the tip, 98% of the bourlette is intact, and the root is whole with just a tad of pitting. They don't get ...
2 13/16" Fossil Megalodon Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is the second megalodon tooth I found scuba diving today. Its a nice posterior tooth with serrations, tip, and great root. It was completely exposed when I found it....
3 1/2" Fossil Megalodon Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Here is the first complete megalodon tooth I found today while diving. Its surprising that it has the serrations and tip - Cooper river megalodon teeth are usually quite worn. This one actually looks more like a land found tooth with the marbling on the back of the tooth....

4" Megalodon shark tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
After close to 50 dives in the Cooper River, this is the first Carcharocles megalodon tooth I've found without some type noticable damage. Amazing that its taken this long - I just collecting fossils on land has spoiled me. Man, is that backwards or what!!...
4 9/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I found this tooth completely exposed with the front side down in a hole I was digging a few months ago. I really wish I had brought my camera, because this tooth was almost posing for a ground shot. You just never know when a nice fossil is going to be in a chunk of dirt that is just thrown aside in a digging frenzy. Its got a great root, serrations, and color. The bourlette is about 70% intact, and the tip is pretty sharp for a land found megalodon tooth. ...
2 13/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
My first Megalodon from Aurora. Its a little beat up but it counts! I dug in the Yorktown Formation on the spoil pile for over 2 hours before I found it. I pulled out so much bone while I was digging that I thought I was going to find a giant shark's tooth. I'm just glad there was something there this time. I've dug the past three trips in a row and this is the first megalodon I've found....
3 15/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A completely serrated, killer white megalodon tooth. Its so awesome that I carried this one around in my pocket for 3 days after I found it!...
3 7/16" Pathologic Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is my best pathologic megalodon tooth to date - it looks like it got squeezed in between two teeth and could only eek out a little bit of room to grow. ...
4 7/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This one has a great color: olive, yellow, orange, and blue all swirled together. Plus, its got good serrations, a 90% complete bourlette, and a 98% root. A really nice find....
5 1/2" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is probably one of the top 5 teeth I've ever found. Its a killer - serrations, tip, bourlette, root, good color, its got them all. For a SC land tooth, this is a rare find indeed! I think the thing that kept this tooth so preserved was the amount of iron oxide and sand caked on the outside of this tooth. There was one chunk on the back as big as a marble. I had to grind it off, and it looked just like I was grinding a bolt. One of the wierdest things I've ever seen. You can still see the re...

What a spectacular find! his best in like 2 years....
5 1/2" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A big, beautiful, nearly perfect, white megalodon tooth. The root rules, the bourlette is fully intact, the serrations are sharp, the color is awesome! The tip kills me. In fact, I might have broken it. When I first found it, I thought my shovel hit the tip and that's what caused the break. Now that I think about it and remember what happened, though, I don't actually know that for sure. Its because of the way I dig. My shovel is always perpendicular to the plane of the layer, and when I exposed...
2 13/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Not the biggest tooth, nor is it free from wear. The colors are one of a kind, though....
5 5/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This tooth was lots of things for me today - the last tooth I found, the best one I found today, the biggest one I found today. Its so awesome that my wife said it was awesome, and she normally doesn't care much about teeth. I think I'm gonna call it the prettiest megaldon tooth I've ever found. What a killer! Serrations, perfect root, magnificent coloration and marbling, a small pathology on the blade, big, thick,... I could go on and on, but I'll let the pix speak for themselves....
5 5/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
After going to this spot 3 straight days in a row I finally score this awesome meg. This is the biggest and probably the best meg in my collection right now that I've found. The root is really solid and almost perfect and the bourlette is about 96% complete. The serrations are really sharp and unfortnately I nicked the very tip serration with my shovel and only about 10 serrations are missing out of the hundreds. Has a small strip of peel on the display side thats hardly noticable other than...
3 3/4" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This was the last of 3 complete megalodon teeth I found this week. I didn't get a ground photo of this one because I completely flipped it out of the ground with my shovel before I even saw it. I called today's trip "Turkey Day" because my wife was taking tha b0y bowling today, and I was hoping that my 3 "strikes" today would rub off on her....
4 3/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This was the first and best of the 3 megs I found this week. Great serrations, color, root, bourlette, sharp tip. What more can you ask for?...

2 1/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is a fantastic posterior megalodon that I dug right from the formation....
4 7/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Well I think this one beats my meg from Super Pit as being the best meg I've found to date. Theres alot to say about this tooth, I mean how many white megs do you actually see like this and in such fantastic condition? If you ask me I haven't seen very many. This tooth has a just about perfect bourlette, awesome root, and just a few missing serrations keep this tooth from being almost perfect....
3 1/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I almost missed this tooth - I was digging quickly looking for the big teeth and this one popped out unexpectedly. I narrowly missed it with the shovel, and I almost threw 10 pounds of sand on top of it before I even saw it. Considering it was the best thing I've found there in a while, it would have been a loss!...
4 1/4" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
The 2nd meg of the day and the star tooth of the day. This tooth is so close to perfect the serrations are razor sharp. The bourlette is about 85% complete and the root is in great shape to. Has amazing colors and to top it off the fourth meg I've found in a row with a good tip....
3 3/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
The last whole meg of the day. Has a slight bit of feeding damage to the tip, but who cares the colors are so awesome on this tooth and it has a good root to and the serrations are still sharp. This would be the 6th meg I've found latly in just 4 straight trips of toothing and the meg streak continues....
3 13/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
The first meg of the day. Has some small chips in the root lobes, but the color is great and the bourlette is so close to perfect and serrations are still sharp and has a slightly worn tip....
3 3/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This little meg has a olive type black color with white lightning streaks going through it quite an amazing tooth. The serrations are still sharp and some wear to the root and bourelette is about 90% complete. This would be the third meg I found lately in a row with the tip intact. ...
1 1/2" Posterior Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Its not the biggest of posterior megs, but the root is a bit odd shaped and seems pathological....
2 11/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I found this 10 minutes after I got to the pit today. Twice in a row now at this spot I've found a nice little meg. Like the last one, this one has all the serrations, a great root, and a good tip. I love the color on the teeth at this spot!...
4 1/2" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I found this one in a spot where the sewage washed it out of the layer. It has a hydration crack in the root, but its not to bad. The serrations are sharp and the bourlette is about 95% complete and again another meg with the tip and great color....
5 3/16" Megalodon   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
The best meg I have ever found to date. Sure it has a small strip of peel and the color of the bourlette has faded. It still has sharp serrations and has a great a root and to top it all off it has the tip and great colors....
2 5/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Calvert County, Maryland, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
My first meg from the cliffs - it has a great root, great color, sharp serrations, and complete bourlette, but unfortunately, the tip was lost to feeding....
3 5/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Just a little gem. Every serration intact, even the rare tip! Great color, too....
3 3/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Beautiful colors on this near perfect land found megalodon tooth....
4 1/2" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
They spread out a hill that was chocked full of layer and I stumbled upon this beauty while walking the flattened mound. What a great tooth! Its serrated, has the bourlette, a nice root, and good enamel. Man, I love this spot!...

4 3/4" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
4 3/4" Megalodon Shark Tooth
3 13/16" Megalodon shark tooth   Carcharocles megalodon
An awesome meg in great shape. Nearly every serration is intact, as is the tooth and bourlette. Plus the root is in fantastic condition. The obvious reason this tooth is so cool is the huge pathology on the left side. It looks like a huge serration - a spike sticking of the edge of the tooth. One of a kind, for sure!...
4 5/8" Megalodon shark tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is somewhat of a fluke meg. The day had nearly come to an end, and I hadn't found anything worthwhile yet. I stuck my shovel in the layer and just started working it. I ended up digging a trench 15 feet long, 18 inches wide, and 6 inches deep before I ran across this tooth, but it was just in time. I nearly quit digging just minutes before, but in my despiration, I kept going until the bitter end. But the end turned out to be not that bitter! This tooth has great color, root, and serrations...

4 1/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This tooth was laying at the bottom of a hill at superpit after a nice rainfall. I wish I had my camera with me because the tip was sticking out of the dirt pointing right at the sky - it was really cool looking. It’s the nicest meg I've found there so far. It has a great root, serrations, the tip, and the bourlette....
2 1/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
found this tooth just poking out of the layer at the bottom of superpit after a nice rain, and its in fantastic condition. Its nicely serrated, it has the tip, the root is perfect, and the bourlette is all there. It’s a rare occurrence to find a tooth this nicely preserved in a reformulated layer. The coolest thing about this tooth, though is the feeding marks on the back of the tooth....

4 13/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth
4 3/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
When I first found this tooth I was thrilled with the coloration - its one of the prettiest I've ever found. It has orange, white, red, yellow, and purple - yes purple! The only unfortunate thing was that the root was broken in numerous places. In fact, when I cleaned it, parts of it crumbled. I spent a week gluing it back together, and my painstaking efforts paid off. There are only a few visable cracks left. I think it was worth the effort....

6" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I thought I was seeing things when I saw this tooth just laying there on the side of the hill. Its one of the sweetest large megs I've seen in a while. The root is killer - it even has a little character on the left root lobe where a clam attached itself and left a ring. The bourlette is fabulous - 95% complete. Plus it has great serrations. The only flaw (if you can call it that) is some feeding damage on the right edge near the tip. You can't even see it from the front, and I didn't notice it ...
3 1/4" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
A fantastic looking tooth! One of the best roots ever. Plus the bourlette is 100% complete. The serrations are worn, but still visible....

2 1/2" Megalodon Shark Tooth
3 5/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Charleston County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Here's the first complete meg I found at the porno ditch. It’s a little worn, but the crown is a yellowish-brown marbled color. It has nice serrations, too. It has a tiny ding on the right root lobe, but you can only see it from the back....
5 1/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Megs are so cool. The first time I held this in my hand I was in awe. Just like the first time I hold every meg in my hand. The colors on this tooth are exquisite! White, orange, yellow, tan, there are too many to name. The serrations are still fairly sharp which is rare for land teeth. The bourlette is mostly intact, which is really surprising. And the root is even whole. I'm amazed by that because the location where this tooth came from is very acidic. Most teeth are really eaten up. There is ...
13/16" Pathologic Megalodon Shark Tooth   Lee Creek Mine, Aurora, North Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
My first Lee Creek megalodon tooth! It’s a small one, but its 100% flawless. Sharp tip, every serration intact, and a perfect root. Look at the left root lobe - it never grew - what a cool looking little tooth!...
4 7/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Here is a nice little tooth that has a lot going for it. Saying that it has great color is cutting it short. Oranges, yellows, browns, etc. are all mixed together in a completely unique fashion. The root is perfect, the 60%-75% of the bourlette is intact, and the serrations are even visible....
4 3/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
My second meg of the day - and it’s a nice little one. It has all the enamel, but the serrations are worn off. Amazingly enough, however, it still has most of the bourlette. Weird, huh? The root is pretty good too, and it gives this tooth a great shape....
6 3/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Words cannot describe the majesty of this tooth. It truly has it all! It is a king among kings in my collection. Great color! Just look at the back at the fabulous white and yellowish lightning streaks in the enamel. The root can't get much better either. Its BLUE and white! Stunningly beautiful and absolutely unique. The bourlette is 80% intact, and is also marbled blue and white with lightning streaks in it. The serrations are superb. Lastly, the blade is rippled where it meets the root. That'...
3 7/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Here's another gem from the spot that keeps getting better. It has a perfect root, 100% complete bourlette, sharp serrations, a nice tip, and all the enamel. Its very rare for land teeth to be of this quality. Most are very worn, but somehow, this one escaped....
6" Megalodon Shark tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
To date, this is the best tooth I have ever found. Its serrated, has a 99% complete root, 60% complete bourlette, and the most fantastic color pattern. On both sides, the area next to the serrations is yellow, but the center of the tooth is white. Its an unbelievable find, expecially for walking!...
4 7/16" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is the second Meg I found today. The enamel is in fantastic condition. Great color - white and orange. Awesome serration, nice tip, and 50% complete bourlette. The root has some wear, but is basically complete with only some minor surface damage. This tooth alone would have been enough to deem the day successful....

6 1/2" Megalodon Shark Tooth
3 5/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
All I can say about this tooth is WOW! It’s the first meg I have ever found of this exquisite color. Its nearly white and in relatively good shape - no major damage anywhere, nice root, visable serrations, no enamel peel. This one has a cool story - to me anyway. My brother and I went to lunch today, and we got done in like 30 minutes. I have an hour for lunch, and I knew that J of the Golden Shovel would be out at the forbidden pond digging, so we thought we would go say hi and see if they were...
4 3/4" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
I believe this is the largest serrated tooth I have found at the forbidden pond to date. It is uncommon for megs found on land in my area to be serrated because the layer they are found in is reworked. This tooth has it all - a great root, nice serrations, colorful complete enamel, and even some bourlette intact. I can't believe my good fortune with the megs the last few weeks....
3 1/2" Megaldon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This was the third meg I found today (but only the second that was good enough to make the collection) and it’s a beauty! The root is pristine! I seldom find one in this fantastic of condition. Usually, there is some pitting or little dings, or something, but this root kills! Then, the bourlette is 100% complete. It is rare to find megs with intact bourlette in land teeth here. The enamel is beautiful and orangish grey. The serrations are worn smooth, but they are still visable. The tip is a lit...
5 1/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
This is the biggest tooth I have found in a year and a half. When I pulled it out, I thought I was going to pass out. There is nothing like peeling back that chunk of dirt and seeing a tooth like this lying there. Its not the most perfect tooth in my collection, but it is one of the prettiest. The orange enamel is criss crossed with little white lines. It still has some visible serrations, but they are really worn. It has some bourlette remaining (probably about 20%). It has a pretty nice root o...
4 3/8" Megalodon Shark Tooth   Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA - Carcharocles megalodon
Here is an absolutely gorgeous tooth. The colors on this tooth are fantastic. Greens, browns, greys, all marbled together. The serrations are super sharp and the root and bourlette are in perfect shape....
